The Awakening of Love

Siko and Katuo have been spending more time in Katuo’s bedroom. They talk, kiss, and cuddle. Katuo is becoming used to the cuddles and hugs, but he wants more.

Siko still hasn’t told his father, who came back from Japan two weeks ago, about his new relationship with Katuo yet, but he has the reason. His own father is not too fond of Katuo.

He knows that Katuo is trying to be patient. Seeing that his boyfriend often takes cold showers because of him, Siko decides to give him what he truly wants.

“Fucking Tezuka!” Katuo roars when he finds the erotic pictures under his pillows… again.

The light-haired teenager giggles. He knows that Tezuka-san has been encouraging them to do ‘it’ in the bed, but he is often worried about Katuo jumping on him. But this time, he does not care.

“Strip.”

Katuo freezes at Siko’s innocent word. How the hell can it be innocent? But, he has to make sure first. “W-what?”

Siko giggles at Katuo’s reaction. “I said, strip.”

“S-strip?”

Siko gives him a sexy smirk. “Yes, strip.”

Katuo frowns in concern, as he places his hands on Siko’s face cheeks. “If we are going to do it, then there’s no turning back.”

“Yes, I’m sure about it.” Siko kisses Katuo’s palm. “I’m grateful that you have been holding yourself back… but I’m ready right now.”

That’s all Katuo needs to hear.

“Katuo, wake up!” Siko is shaking Katuo gently.

“Eh… Siko?” Katuo blinks sleepily before he sits up from the white and black floor.

“You’re okay!” Siko exclaims, throwing him a big hug.

Katuo takes a moment to take a look around at the strange place. They are both wearing either white or black pants. “Where are we?”

“I don’t know… I woke up like this…” Siko scratches the back of his head. “I hope that Ketsu is ok… I mean, he will be worried about us if he finds out that we are gone…”

The black-haired teenager looks away from his new lover. “I can’t believe that I actually heard what Ketsu had been hearing for the rest of his life.”

“The voice?” Siko blinks in surprise. “You heard him too?”

“This voice sounds familiar now?” The same voice from the last time they heard before they passed out says.

The teenagers jump startled at this disturbing voice. Goosebumps begin appearing all over their bodies. It feels so weird that they are going to meet this person who Ketsu has been hearing since his childhood. They slowly glance at the certain figure.

His skin is very tan, in an attractive way. He has black hair and green eyes. He is wearing white pants and black boots with white tips. He does not wear any shirt. A small and odd star-like mark is glowing brightly on the side of his neck. A gold halo is floating above his head. He is sitting on a wooden chair in the middle of nowhere.

Suddenly, this man feels very, very familiar to the older teenagers. It’s almost as if they had already met him countless times.

“Hikyou-sama?” Siko and Katuo say at the same time before they realize what they just said.

“Excellent. You still remember my name.” Hikyou gives them a small smile. He gets up from the chair.

“Wait a damn minute!” Katuo yells. “Who the fuck are you?! Where the hell are we?! What do you want from us?!”

“Thank you, the snappy one. You have just identified yourself as Dark God.” Hikyou smiles brightly at them. He turns to Siko. “So, then, you are Light God, right?”

“Umm…” Siko steps behind Katuo a little. “I-I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Answer me, dammit!” Katuo snaps.

“You declared your love for each other. You pulled me out. That’s your answer,” Hikyou says.

“W-what?” Siko blushes lightly. “You mean, our love has something to do with you?”

“Yes, your love awakened your powers. Maybe ‘pulling me out’ are not the words I am looking for. Ah, that’s correct – you are going to free me from the dimension where I’m trapped inside.”

“The dimension? What the heck do you mean?” Katuo nearly snaps. Hikyou is speaking in some kind of fucking riddles!

“Where I am… That is Heaven. Ketsu has been hearing my voice for most of his life. Every time you approach him, he hears my voice.” Hikyou stretches out his arms.

“Oh, you’re saying that it’s our fault that he has been like that for many years?” Katuo asks angrily. “Well, fuck you! We are leaving, Siko.”

“Do you even know where you are?” Hikyou chuckles softly at Katuo’s usual idiocy. Like his father Tezuka.

“We are not going to stay here!” Katuo snaps. “You are talking like some kind of religious man!”

“But I am not,” Hikyou says with a light chuckle. “I’m real. You are real. We truly exist in this universe – Fifth Universe. I am Double God.”

Siko and Katuo turn their heads toward Hikyou with their widened eyes. It can’t be possible that they are looking at the Double God! In the legends, after the Dark and Light Gods died, he went missing and was never found again. That was about a thousand years ago.

“Quit with this bullshit!” Katuo stomps toward Hikyou. “You, Double God? Yeah right! I am the king of the world!”

“Actually, you are the god of the universe.” Hikyou smirks darkly at him. “Isn’t it better than the king of the world?”

Katuo narrows his eyes dangerously at him. “Are you asking for a fight?”

“Stop it!” Siko yells before he becomes a little quieter. “Please… I want to go home.”

“You can’t go home just yet.” Hikyou turns away from Katuo and walks toward the sole chair. “You are not going anywhere until you are fully committed to one important thing. If you wish to listen, I will explain everything.”

Something is telling Katuo and Siko to trust Hikyou. They have never met him before in their lives. But this guy still feels so familiar to them, and it’s still really… frightening to them.

“Fine. We are listening, but promise us that when you are done, you will let us go.” Katuo scowls at this so-called ‘Double God’ guy.

Hikyou flashes the biggest grin ever. “Great! Before I explain, I want to grant you the powers first.”

“Look.” Katuo scoffs at the stranger. “You promised us that you would explain why we are here. We are not here to get the powers – we don’t even believe in such things!”

Hikyou blinks at the teenagers. “You don’t believe in them? Who are you and what have humans done to you? I thought you would have accepted them quickly…”

“Have you been living under the rocks? Of course, powers do not exist in our world!”

Hikyou frowns at them. “I honestly didn’t think that Tezuka and Ryu had been hiding stuff from you that good.”

“Stop talking in riddles and start explaining!”

“Well, I guess I will have to explain before you receive the powers of Dark and Light Gods…” Hikyou rubs his chin. “First of all, you are the reincarnations of Keiran and Jalen. They were the Gods before you. Unfortunately, as you probably heard, they died in a battle one thousand years ago… right here on Earth. So, I chose you to become the next Gods.”

“I… I don’t believe this…” Siko takes a back step away from Katuo. “How could we be Gods? We are only normal teenagers…!”

“Keiran and Jalen… they are only a myth!” Katuo says. “Nobody believes in such things anymore!”

“Then, how did you survive the accident after trying to save the baby dragon, Katuo? And, Siko, how did you survive after getting hit by the explosion at one of the gas stations?”

Katuo and Siko are speechless at the questions. Hikyou is right. They were supposed to die from them… right?

“That’s because you are Gods. You can’t die.” Hikyou smirks at their reactions. “On the bonus side, you heal much faster than normal humans do.”

“But still… why… Why did you choose us?” Siko asks. “Why did you wait for one thousand years before choosing us?”

Hikyou smiles. “Your fathers were the most powerful heroes during the world wars… I watched every one of their lives, and they really made a big difference in this world. So, today, Tezuka is the President of Planet Earth, and Ryu is the General of the First Division, one of the strongest divisions.”

“And, you chose us because of our fathers?” Katuo clenches his fists in anger. It’s Tezuka all over again. Why does he always have to be someone because of his father?

“It’s not about your fathers,” Hikyou says. “It’s the family name. Kejinto and Mitsukai are destined to work together. It was your great-grandfathers who saved the universe while I was gone. That’s where your fathers got their strength from. They are one of the reasons why I chose you as soon as you were born. When you were dying, your fathers gave up your original souls in exchange for the souls of Gods.”

“I… I can’t accept it.” Katuo shakes his head furiously. “There’s no such thing as Double God! It’s just the legends that were passed through many generations…! My great-grandfather wasn’t that powerful. He was a fucking drunk man who left his own wife behind.”

“No… this is too much…” Siko places his hands on his head. “I must be dreaming. Yeah, it is a dream.”

“You refuse to accept the fact that you are the Gods?” Hikyou gets up from the chair. “I’m sorry, but I’m not letting you go.”

“Bastard!” Katuo growls angrily. “Where the hell are we?”

“Didn’t I tell you? We are inside a different dimension in Heaven,” Hikyou smirks darkly at them. “It’s on the other side of the universe.”

“U-um…” Siko keeps his eyes glued to the black and white floor. “What happens… if we accept the powers of the Gods?”

“Siko?!” Katuo stares at his new lover in disbelief.

Hikyou grins at Siko widely. “Ah, Light God. Passive, as always, eh? Well, come here!”

As Siko makes a step, Katuo grabs his wrist harshly. “Ow, Katuo! You’re hurting me!”

“What are you doing?! How can you trust a… a… creepy stranger who has been stalking our whole lives! And our families’ too!”

“I… I’m confused.” Siko admits. “I feel like I’ve known him for a long time, yet I never met him before. Don’t you feel that too?”

“Siko…” Katuo glances at Hikyou. “I’m coming with you. If he does anything weird to you, I’ll protect you. I refuse to let anyone else take you away from me again.”

Siko smiles at him, but it does not last long because Hikyou’s laughter interrupts their moment.

“Hehehe! How much more possessive you can get, Katuo?! You’re much more like Myou than any previous Dark Gods!” Hikyou sticks out his tongue. “It’s no wonder you’re in so much love, eh, Siko?!”

“Shut up.” Katuo snaps. “Let’s just get over this.”

He and Siko slowly walk toward Hikyou, but they also keep up their guard just in case they get attacked.

“You humans are surely persistent, eh? Well, ready or not, here I come!” Hikyou places one of his hands on each teenager’s forehead.

Almost immediately, Katuo and Siko scream as soon as they feel the huge pain in their heads. It’s as if Hikyou is trying to drill into their heads. They almost pass out because of it.

As fast as it starts, it ends. The pain is gone, to the teenagers’ much relief. But this time, they feel much different than before, but they do not know what it is that makes them feel like that.

“Well, all done! It isn’t that hard, eh?” Hikyou smiles at them. “Congratulations. You got the powers of the Gods. Your training begins when I call you back here.”

Siko and Katuo look at each other. They gasp loudly and point at each other quickly.

“Y-you got something on your forehead!” Siko cries.

“Same with you!” Katuo says.

The brand new marks are on their foreheads. Siko’s mark is shaped as a white star with white dot on the right side. Katuo’s is also shaped as a black star with black dot at the left side. But, the marks are not only things they are shocked to see.

They have… the wings! Siko’s wings are white and Katuo’s are black. They look like angels.

“I must be dreaming…” Siko says again.

“What did you do to us?” Katuo glances at Hikyou.

“What? Nothing. It is your true form. I just unlocked your powers.” Hikyou shrugs his shoulders. 

“But why? If you are Double God, then why do we have to be Gods too? Why do we have three Gods in this universe?”

“Because of Myou and Hikari. Because without you, I would not have existed.” Hikyou answers simply. “I will answer your questions later. “

Those words are the last things the teenagers hear before they wake up in Katuo’s bedroom.

Siko blinks in confusion. “U-um.”

“Siko!” Katuo yells.

“W-what?!” Siko is startled by Katuo’s yell but is even more startled by Katuo’s black wings. “Y-your wings!”

“And… the marks too!” Katuo jumps out of his bed and runs to his mirror to check out himself. “Then… then…”

Siko shakes his head in disbelief. “What have we done? This must be a dream… There’s no way… we are the Gods of this world… no, this universe.”

“Ketsu!” Katuo says. “We have to go and see him! For his whole life, he had been talking to… that God or whoever he is. Right? He has to know something about our weird appearances!”

“Won’t we stand out with this…?” Siko points at their wings.

“Fuck it. We are going to find Ketsu!” Katuo says.
