Chapter 13 "Nightmare"

Chapter 13
Nightmare

“Myou?”

“Yes?” Myou smiled lightly at Hikari.

“Are we doing the right thing…? I mean, I don’t even know what we are fighting for anymore…” Hikari said softly.

“It’s the Sora’s fault. They attacked one of the Chikyu gods. It’s obvious that they want our universes,” Myou was walking through the city with Hikari… or rather, it used to be the city. It was in complete ruins and stank of death along with the corpses lying on the streets. They could see no more than ten feet away in the heavy fog.

“Someone is there!” Hikari pointed at a shadow lurking in the fog.

“Hm? This power…” Myou said, as he recognized the wild presence. “It’s one of the Sora gods.”

“No… it’s more than one Sora god,” Hikari said nervously.

Suddenly, three Sora gods appeared around Hikari and Myou out of nowhere.

“Fuck!” Myou cursed. “I didn’t think anybody would survive after that enormous god-level attack…”

“We thought you didn’t survive either!” one of the Sora gods with red wings says cheerfully. “You are the Chikyu gods, eh? Our leader would love to meet yours. The war would end now if our leaders just put our differences aside and discuss--”

“What do you want from us?” Myou asked angrily. “You took away our universes… What more do you want?!”

“Peace. That’s all we want. You Chikyu gods are out of control as always,” the second Sora god with lavender wings smirked darkly.

“Bullshit!” Hikari yelled as he charged toward the Sora gods. Before he could attack, the third Sora god with navy blue wings grabbed him from behind, locking his arms.

“Leave him alone!” Myou shouted, but he got hit in the head, almost being knocked out by a strong fist.

“Tsuki and Punta,” the red-winged Sora god crossed his arms with an amused look on his face. “Bring them to me.”

“Hell yeah, Dios!”

“D-Dios?” Myou shook his head, trying not to lose his consciousness. “You joined Sora? Why?”

“…Don’t you know the purpose of Sora?” Dios asked. When he received no answer, he continued, “We want to be free from the Great One’s rule. We fear him. He would annihilate an universe and kill a god at the same time... with a finger. He had too many rules… But… you, Chikyu gods, keep defending him… even after what he did to us. He killed countless gods!”

“Do you even have proof?! No! Your group killed one of the Chikyu gods!” Hikari yelled.

“He attacked one of the Sora gods!” Tsuki tightened the lock on Hikari’s arms, making him yelp in pain.

“Go easy on him.” Dios snapped at Tsuki before he turned back to Myou, “All you need is to tell us where your leader is… and we will let you and your boyfriend go.”

“My boyfriend?!” Myou yelled in embarrassment. “What gave you the idea?!”

Punta forced him to kneel by pushing down his shoulders. “Tell us where your leader is. Look at the dead bodies! Do you want to join them?”

Myou growled at the unbearable sight of his dead friends. Most of those Gods… even Sora gods… were his friends. Why were they fighting for the Great One?

Dios sighed at Myou’s silence. “It looks like we won’t be getting any information from them, Tsuki and Punta.”

“Why? Why do you want the Great One to die?” Myou asked. “We caused this war. The Great One has nothing to do with this war.”

“Nothing to do with the war?” Tsuki scoffed. “The Great One is the one who ordered a Chikyu god to kill one of the Sora gods, didn’t he? Because of it, the Sora god fought back and killed him instead.”

“Where did you hear this story from?!” Hikari yelled. “None of this is true!”

“Dios, what do we do with them?” Punta asked, ignoring Hikari’s nonsense babbling.

“Let them go.” Dios sighed. “It’s meaningless to fight them if they don’t know anything.”

“Tch!” Tsuki pushed Hikari to the floor. “Stay out of our sight because next time… you will be dead.”

“Star Burst!” Punta shouted, his attack of stars going through Myou’s shoulder easily.

Katuo bolts right out of his bed, screaming at the sudden intense pain and grabbing his shoulder fast. He pants breathlessly and takes a look at his injured shoulder… It is not bleeding? It doesn’t seem to be injured either.

Fuck! You scared the shit out of me!

The new Dark God rolls his eyes at Hikyou’s voice. He shivers when he remembers the nightmare again. “Sorry. It was just a nightmare. I thought it was real the whole time.”

Oh, for a second there, I thought you were getting attacked.

“Attacked?” Katuo raises an eyebrow. “Why would anyone want to attack me? Earth hasn’t been at war for almost twenty years.”

Sorry… In the past, the gods were almost always getting attacked. People either hate them or want to take the title of God from them.

“Whatever.” Katuo covers himself with his blanket. “I’m going back to sleep.”

Chikyu and Sora gods?” Siko blinks, as he rubs his chin in wonder. “Nope, I’ve never heard of them before.”

“Maybe it’s only a nightmare?” Ketsu shrugs his shoulders. “Maybe it’s not real.”

“How could I feel Myou’s pain when he got attacked?!” Katuo yells in frustration. “It felt so fucking real!”

“When is Hikyou-sama going to answer us? We’ve been calling him for the last hour!” Siko sits on the couch next to his cousin. “Ketsu! You’ve been talking to him for many years! How did you get him to answer you?”

“He only answers whenever he wants to.” Ketsu laughs softly. “It was annoying at first, but I’m used to it.”

“While we are waiting for Hikyou-sama’s answer…” Katuo crosses his legs in the formal way. He glances at Ketsu and asks, “When did you become Dark Angel?”

“Um,” Ketsu is trying to remember. “I think I became a Dark Angel when I was born… but, I found out about it later when I was six years old. My father always told me to take it easy on my sister because our strengths had a huge gap. That was when I learned that I was different.”

Hiya! I can see that you are all together!

“Finally!” Siko exclaims. “We’ve been waiting for you, Hikyou-sama! We want to ask you…”

Oh? What is it?

“I had a nightmare last night,” Katuo says. “I… I think I was Myou in my dream. There was a war between two groups of gods. Sora and Chikyu gods, I believe. Do you know anything about it?”

Ah! Sora and Chikyu gods? The ones who fought for the Great One? Well, that doesn’t matter anymore. It’s all in the past. You are not part of it.

“But why did I have the nightmare?” Katuo asks angrily. “Myou… He is not the evil guy that you described.”

That was a long time ago… Back then, he wasn’t really evil, I know. That was way before I was created. I heard most things about him from Dios. He admitted that Myou changed after the God War… and it wasn’t best for him though.

“Dios… Dios-sama?” Ketsu gasps in surprise.

“Dios? I also saw him in my dream,” Katuo says. “He’s still alive?”

Yes. Before you assume anything, he is not my friend. He is the most perverted God! Ugh!

Katuo sighs. “Myou said he was friends with Dios. What happened? How did the God War end?”

The Great One happened. Billions of universes were completely annihilated along with their own gods… except only seven universes survived. The universes of Myou and Hikari were dying, so they went to Dios for his assistance. Dios denied them. Not only Myou felt betrayed by Dios back in the God War, but he was also betrayed by the friendship they had. I guess that’s because Myou and Hikari were only Chikyu gods… the rest of Gods are Sora. Myou really needed a friend back then, but he felt that Dios failed him.

“What was Dios-sama like in your dream, Katuo?” Siko asks curiously.

“Odd man. He sounded caring and merciful, but he didn’t seem to be the kind of God who is evil.”

He is not. He… He loathes the Great One. The first time I met him... He told me a little about the Great One and about how much he hated him.

“You didn’t meet the Great One?” Ketsu asks.

Never, but he never appeared again after the God War. I wonder if he abandoned us or just disappeared? Dios said that he knew that the Great One is still always watching us.

“What did the Great One do to make Dios hate him?” Siko asks. “The gods are… his creations, right?”

Honestly, I don’t have any idea except I know that the Great One was controlling the gods and telling them what they could do or couldn’t do. After he wiped out the gods, he disappeared.

“How did the war even start?” Ketsu asks.

Both Chikyu and Sora Gods started it… at least that’s what Dios told me. They hated each other for so many years… before the God War even started. They would eventually have started the war anyway.

“Hikyou-sama…” Siko says quietly. “Will I have the nightmare too? Will.. will someone hurt Hikari in my dreams too?”

It’s possible. It never happened to the previous Gods though. It’s odd that Katuo is the first one to have a nightmare like that.

“Hey, Hikyou-sama. Are we Chikyu or Sora gods?” Katuo asks.

Chikyu and Sora gods are no more. They were just two groups who fought each other a long time ago.

“Oh, I see.”

“But what if the Great One appears again? Will he finish us all off?” Siko gulps nervously.

I don’t know, but I don’t really care. It’s not my problem. I want to keep this universe alive and healthy. That’s all it matters to me right now.

“I had no idea that there was such a God War...” Ketsu shivers at the thought of the powerful gods fighting each other.

So... It’s time for you to come and meet me again! Training time!

Katuo, Siko, and Ketsu smile at each other as well as Hikyou’s cheerfulness.
