“Welcome back,” Ketsu says cheerfully after Siko and Katuo enter the bridge room.

“Gus!” Siko exclaims, as a scarlet-eyed tiny green dragon flies right into his embrace. Gus is only five inches wide and twelve inches tall if standing on 2 legs. 

Back on Earth, Katuo found him wounded on the streets and saved him from getting run over by the cars. He got himself hurt.

Siko decided to take Gus home with him because Katuo did not want to keep him any longer. Katuo wanted Gus to get healed and then to set him free right away, but then Siko argued with him about how dragons were almost extinct and took him home instead. And since then, the rest was history.

They do not know how old Gus is, but they assume him to be around three years old due to the size and the number of baby teeth.

“Ah, so, the mission failed.” Ketsu sighs lightly and leans back into his chair, with his hands behind his head. “Hikyou-sama is not going to be happy at all.”

“Well, it’s our first mission, after all.” Siko laughs lightheartedly, as he puts back on his white headband, making his white wings disappear into the air. “I’m sure Hikyou-sama will forgive us… right, Katuo?”

“Hn.” Katuo puts on his black headband. “I don’t know.”

“Oh, Katuo! I’m positive that he --”

Siko! Katuo! An angry voice shouts in their heads.

“Ouch. He is really pissed off.” Ketsu rubs his throbbing forehead and then grins nervously at them. He gets up from his chair. “Well, good luck with him.”

“What?! You suck!” Katuo yells angrily as Ketsu leaves the bridge room.

“Katuo.” Siko sits down on the floor. “Hikyou-sama summoned us.”

Katuo rolls his dark green eyes and then sits across from Siko. They close their eyes, going into mediating mode.

They open their eyes to find themselves in the black and white world.

“Where is Hikyou-sama?” Siko looks around the empty place, trying to find Hikyou-sama, even though there is nowhere to hide.

“Up here.”

Katuo and Siko look up to find the upside-down Double God hovering in the air. “Hikyou-sama!”

Hikyou flips and lands his feet on the floor easily. His skin is very tan. He has black, spiky hair and green eyes. He is wearing white pants and black boots with white tips. A small symbol of Double God is on his neck. A golden halo is floating above his head.

Siko and Katuo immediately bow his heads.

“So.” Hikyou smirks widely. “You failed, eh?”

“Y-you heard us!” Siko says nervously.

“It was our first mission!” Katuo snaps at Hikyou. “Just… Please allow us to do better on the next mission!”

“Whatever happened to your quote, ‘I’m prepared for anything?’” Hikyou crosses his arms with a raised eyebrow.

Katuo winces. Fuck. He actually remembered that.

Light and Dark Gods flinch when Hikyou starts laughing out loud.

“Hey! You dare to laugh at us?” Katuo growls at him.

“I’m just having fun teasing you. But still…” Hikyou suddenly becomes serious. “Your first mission was not a game at all. I can’t have you being all arrogant. What did I tell you about your arrogance? Being Gods doesn’t mean that you can just treat the universe as if it is your toy. You should have gotten his soul the minute you saw him.”

“Hikyou-sama, we are sorry --” Siko starts.

“Sorry isn’t enough!” Hikyou snaps, causing Siko and Katuo to shout in pain at their throbbing foreheads. He stops quickly when he realizes that the symbols are causing them harm. “I shouldn’t have chosen Kejinto and Mitsukai after all...! They have always been wild and reckless for the last fifty years!”

“We are really sorry. Geez, you didn’t have to lose your temper. It was just one soul.” Katuo sighs lightly. “He’s going back to where he came from anyway. He will no longer hurt this universe anymore.”

Hikyou rubs his forehead. “That’s why the Fifth Universe will never acknowledge you as the next Gods. After Myou and Hikari… the Fifth ignored the existence of Light and Dark Gods for a long time. And yet, I’m looking at you standing right here and right now. Do you know why?”

Siko and Katuo look down at the floor, as if they do not want to hear anymore.

“There’s only enough room for one God in the universe,” Hikyou says, holding up one of his fingers. He then adds two more fingers. “However… without the powers of Light and Dark Gods, the Fifth Universe will only wither into nothingness. The Fifth Universe was, after all, the creation of Myou and Hikari. I don’t want that to happen at all.”

“Yes, Hikyou-sama,” the Gods say at the same time.

Hikyou smirks lightly at them, knowing that he is able to control the Gods. After all, he is the Double God -- He is the superior one.

Billions years ago, Hikyou’s soul was formed by the first Light and Dark Gods named Hikari and Myou. He was not exactly born in a natural way, but Hikari and Myou merged portions of their souls into one new God.

When Hikyou found out that Hikari and Myou had been negligent of the Fifth Universe and had been using him to feed onto the Fifth, he eliminated the original Gods completely.

Although the Fifth Universe first acknowledged the powers of Double God, it still needed light and dark powers to survive - it was already weak to begin with. Double God could not provide enough energy, so he began his search for the next new Light and Dark Gods.

He hated the idea of using anyone, but in order to keep the Fifth Universe safe, he must choose two new Gods.

It was way harder than he thought. Every pair of chosen Gods failed to provide their energy and died just to save the dying Fifth Universe.

Siko and Katuo are now the sixth Gods whom Hikyou chose, although it is not official yet. Right now, Hikyou is testing their strength, trust, courage, wisdom, and confidence. That is the purpose of their journey to Heaven.

Before they battle Kira for the title of God, they must first understand the Fifth Universe. That is the most important part of their journey.

“Ok,” Hikyou says. “Your next destination is… Planet Hielo. Your second mission is to find the Icy Warrior and get him to join us.”

“Ummm… how would we know which Icy Warrior is?” Siko asks almost nervously.

Hikyou flashes a big grin at them. “You will know when you see him.”

Katuo rolls his eyes in annoyance. “You always give us hints. Why can’t you just tell us? Like… What does the Icy Warrior look like?”

“Nope! You’re on your own! Hoshiko is counting on you!”

Hoshiko is the name for the new group created by just three people - Katuo, Siko, and Ketsu. Ketsu was the one who came up with the name when they were about to leave Earth because he loves watching stars and studying astronomy. 

“But, but…!” Siko whines. “Is there another way to take you out of this weird dimension that has you trapped for all those years?”

“As I told you millions of times, the Divine Balance Technique is the only way to take me back outside.”

“Easier said than done. Just holding hands isn’t even a technique!” Katuo exclaims in frustration.

“That’s the point! Getting connected helps to get light and dark powers to mend.” Hikyou creates a chair out of nothingness and then sits down on it. “Let them flow throughout your bodies. Don’t you remember? You broke down the barrier and awakened me when you declared your love for each other.”

“But we don’t remember how we did it,” Siko says softly. “It was just… It was too fast, and we were in our own moments.”

“Oh well.” Hikyou shrugs his shoulders. “That’s all I can explain. Good luck with it! Well, then! It’s time for you to return to reality!”

“You suck!” Katuo yells angrily before he snaps his eyes open to find himself and Siko back in the spaceship.
