Light and Dark Gods

A bright ray of light keeps extending and extending until it touches every single Volesmashian soldier in the half of the battlefield.

“W-what is this?” One of the soldiers asks in confusion as he glances at another comrade who shrugs in return.

Suddenly, all of the soldiers that have been touched by the light have been knocked out cold. The ray of light dissipates into nothingness.

“Ack! I hope I didn’t hurt them too badly!” Siko cries after he appears out of nowhere at the end of the ray of light. “It’s just that I didn’t realize how fast I am.”

“And I had to hold on to you when you used the power of light all the way from Mercury,” Katuo mumbles. “You’re probably faster than the speed of light.”

Yeah but the original Light God was much faster though. He could get from Earth to Heaven within one mere second. You have so much to learn.

Siko is pouting. “I only have this power for just a couple of months…” He places the tip of his forefinger on his own chin. “Besides… I had no idea that we could breathe and talk in space until just now.”

“We are Gods now, aren’t we?” Katuo shrugs his shoulders. He glances at Earth. “Hey, it looks like the Shield of Dark Angel is gone now.”

“K-Katuo!” Siko cries worriedly, as he lifts his forefinger. Katuo follows his pointing forefinger until he turns around to find not one slow meteor but also a second large ball of hot flaming red rock that is approaching faster and faster.

Katuo, use your dark power to stop it.

“Stop that huge meteor?” Katuo asks worriedly. “How?”

“N-now what?” Siko asks nervously after they do not receive another response from Hikyou for the past one minute. 

“Take me to the meteor, then.” The Dark God turns to him, reaching out his hand. “Then, I’ll try and use my dark power.”

Siko nods his head in agreement and then takes Katuo’s hand. Unlike Tezuka’s rush power which only focuses on one or two limbs, light energy is flowing freely throughout Siko’s body. 

Within an instant second, Katuo and Siko are already hovering just a few hundreds feet away from the approaching meteor that goes past Tezuka who is still pushing back the first one.

“Siko!” Ryu exclaims in concern as soon as he spots his son and his boyfriend. “What are you doing here?!”

Katuo ignores him as he hurriedly lifts his hands, with his open palms facing the upcoming meteor. He yells, “Oscuro!” and feeds enormous amounts of his own dark energy to create the largest black barrier he has ever made. The barrier covers half of Earth but more than enough to protect not only the blue planet but also the Earthlings who are behind the barrier.

“Hn." Tezuka smirks lightly, now that he knows that Earth is going to be safe from the second meteor.

The meteor lands harshly onto the barrier, sending thousands of shockwaves across the vast space. At the same time, it explodes into thousands and thousands of large rocks which then float away into space.

“Impossible!” Phoenix roars. He raises his hands above his own head and creates another meteor once again.

He suddenly freezes because after he blinks once, Siko is suddenly right in the front. How the son of General Mitsukai has moved from the original position to where Phoenix is, he has no idea.

“I am Light God,” Siko says in an eerie and chilly calm as he places his hand on Phoenix’s wild red hair. Phoenix widens his eyes in shock when he realizes that what Siko said is real. Siko is emitting so much light; there is a clear white aura clinging to his entire body. Then, Siko lifts his hand from Phoenix’s hair and then turns away just in time to hear Phoenix shrieking not in pain, but rather in fear. The rays of light are being shot out of Phoenix’s eyes, ears, and mouth for a few seconds before he goes into unconsciousness.

The meteor that Tezuka has been trying to push has finally stopped moving. Tezuka gives a light sigh before he sends water out of his fingertips onto the meteor, turning it into a large hardened and darkened rock.

“I-Is that… Are t-they…?” One of the Earthling soldiers asks in awe, having to witness everything Light and Dark Gods did to stop the meteors. They made it look much easier than Tezuka did.

“Yes. Those are the Gods,” General Wade says with a smirk on his face. “Tezuka… have you been hiding them all along?”

“Oh, shut up,” General Suarez snaps as she crosses her arms. “It’s none of your business.”

TOKYO, JAPAN

“Man! I can’t believe I missed everything!” Knapp whines loudly only to get whacked by his younger brother. “What was that for?!”

“You did your job, and we did our jobs.” Ryu rolls his dark eyes. “At least you got to stop Ketsu from preventing us from going to Earth.”

Katuo glances at the press surrounding Tezuka and asking him millions of questions. He scoffs at how his father smoothly dodges the questions about the Gods by casually changing the subject, like how the Earthling soldiers really helped him out and that he was saddened to know that some of them died to protect Earth.

“Your father is surely a charmer, isn’t he?” Siko asks cheerfully. “Say, where was Phoenix taken to again?”

He was taken back to his home planet, but it would be up to the Council to judge and sentence him to a punishment. After all, Ketsu took the Elixir of Volesmash, didn’t he?

“Indeed! Now, Volesmash will never be used ever again!” Ketsu laughs lightheartedly, as he slaps his hand lightly on his sword. “I have the Elixir inside my sword. So, no one can abuse it ever again.”

After a brief silence, Katuo decides to ask, “Hikyou-sama, I have a question.”

Yes?

“Kira… She…” Katuo frowns and then continues, “Hikyou-sama, if you are so tired, then why are you still here? Why do you still care?”

Ketsu glances at Siko nervously, but his younger cousin shrugs his shoulders in return. All of them are waiting patiently for Hikyou-sama to answer, but after a few minutes, they begin to leave the room --

Because of Earth.

“What?” Siko asks.

The Fifth Universe. He waited for me for a long time… while he was dying.

“What does the Fifth Universe have anything to do with --” Katuo gets interrupted.

And you… you came for me... 1,000 years ago. Katuo Kejinto and Siko Mitsukai. You were the Gods that the Fifth Universe had always wanted, but before I knew it, you were gone. I was not able to find you since then.

Twenty years ago, I was about to give up just when I saw your great-grandfathers and fathers fighting… even at the cost of their lives. No matter how impossible it seemed for them to win… but in the end, they never gave up. I gave them hundreds of choices… Frankly, I was hoping for them to choose to give up. But they didn’t. They managed to choose all of the right ones and then saved not only Earth but also the Fifth Universe at the end.

It is not me who will save the Fifth Universe. I never did anything… I gave up over and over again. But… you… the Earth… You never gave up on the Fifth Universe. That is how powerful just normal people can be. You are our last chance. The Fifth Universe’s last Hope.

Without you… and the people of the Fifth Universe, Kira will annihilate everything. However… As long as you give hope to the people, the Fifth Universe will definitely survive.

“I see.” Katuo smirks lightly, “Fine. We will leave in two years. I would like to see… how capable the people of the Fifth Universe, the ones you spoke so fondly of, will be.”
